Foto Frenzy is the place to learn the skills you need to take control of your camera and be equipped to explore the endless possibilities that photography has to offer.
Drawing on over 125 years of collective photo-industry experience – from film days to digital capture – Foto Frenzy’s tutors are not only experienced and awarded photographers, but they have a passion for sharing their love of photography. Each has extensive experience in all levels of photo tuition – from beginners courses to specialty workshops, tertiary education and professional development seminars for the photo industry.
All tutors are Accredited Professional Photographers in the Australian photo industry’s peak professional organisation, the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP).
Through a mix of photographic interests, skills, experience and approaches, the team at Foto Frenzy will bring you all that you’ll need to know to explore your photography as far as your imagination wants to take it.

Over his 30-year career, AIPP Master of Photography Darren Jew has photographed the planet’s landscapes and wildlife from Antarctica to Zambia – on mountain peaks, desert plains and beneath the Ocean’s surface.
After completing study at the Queensland College of Art in the early 1980s he first worked in darkrooms, then as a commercial/advertising photography assistant before taking up a position as Photographer with the Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service. Since 1994, Darren has pursued his passion for capturing and sharing the natural World – producing sought-after nature, travel and scientific images both above and below the water; selling fine art prints; undertaking magazine commissions and; leading photo tours to the World’s great wildlife, landscape and marine destinations. Darren is the author of the book AUSTRALIA – reef, rainforest, red heart; his images regularly appear in many magazines and books, he exhibits around Australia and his work is used by conservation organisations world-wide.
His photo-eduction experience includes: 12 years running enthusiasts courses as partner in Faces and Places Photography Workshops; Convening TAFE Adult Education Classes in photography and; photo-tour leading across Australia, in Africa, Antarctica and the Pacific since 1993. Darren also speaks regularly at photo industry conferences and seminars at a State and National level.
His unique vision has seen Darren named Canon/AIPP Australian Science, Environment and Nature Photographer of the Year in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

Cameron is an AIPP Master Photographer and over the last decade has been successful in numerous photographic awards and competitions including 1998 Australian Wildlife Photographer of the Year & the 2008 QLD AIPP Portrait Photographer of the Year. He has been a guest speaker for a number of amateur and professional organisations and is a regular tutor for Nikon School in Brisbane. He has lectured in Photography for TAFE vocational training courses and is a regular judge at the Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPAs).
Cameron is a graduate of the Qld College of Art and has been entrenched in the Australian Photo Industry ever since through his role in Corporate, Govt & Professional Sales at Ted’s Camera Stores in Brisbane. He brings with him over 20 years experience in both the photographic retail and professional photography aspects of the industry.
Regarded by his peers as one of Australia’s foremost exponents of artistic nude photography he has a passion for capturing the beauty of the human form in both the studio and natural environment. Cam is also highly regarded for his general photography knowledge and lighting skills, both in the studio and on location.

Ian Poole
Ian’s studio –Ian Poole does Photography– created many of Brisbane’s high profile fashion and advertising campaigns over three decades. In parallel to his commercial career, Ian has been a student of the art of photography and today is one of Australia’s most articulate speakers on photo history and is a valued critic of both contemporary practice and of photography’s place in our society today.
As well as his skill with camera and lens in hand, Ian’s ability to deconstruct an image and to clearly demonstrate the makings of a great photograph will provide you with a valuable tool that can be called upon when creating your own images.
Tony has been part of the Australian photography industry for over 30 years. His experience spans the gamut of the industry from photographic retail with Georges (since renamed Ted’s) Camera Store through to key positions in leading photo wholesalers, including Maxwell Optical Industries, Kodak Australia and Adeal. He managed the Kodak Imaging team for the 2000 Sydney Olympics; and together with his staff of over 100, was responsible for maintaining the largest digital imaging workflow ever undertaken – managing the capture, storage and display of over 200,000 images and the sale of 80,000 prints over the 10 days of the games.
During his time at Maxwell’s, Tony was the lead educator for Nikon Club Australia, running workshops to hundreds of participants all over Australia. Tony is currently on the State Council of the AIPP’s Queensland Division and Queensland Professional Sales Manager at CR Kennedy and Co.
Pete’s reputation in the photographic industry stems largely from being at the forefront of photographic and digital trends… our new resident techno head. An accomplished photographer, Pete’s passions also lie in the digital arts of manipulation, editing and creative post processing. He’s a keen blogger, podcaster and pixel pusher.
Pete’s photographic background is primarily in commercial architecture photography, having worked as an assistant, shooter, and a digital artist. In 2008 he was named the AIPP QLD Commercial Photographer of the year.
Pete’s re-emerged onto the photographic scene after his 2 year adventure as an Apple Genius, and joins the Foto Frenzy team to lead the Post Processing skills workshops.
